Mark,

..let us just say that when it came to branding, labeling, and such, quality control in the vintage era was decidedly not MAVIC's forte.

I have seen multiple instances of MA or Module E rims being labeled as MA 2 or Module E2 - and visa versa. I have seen supposedly matched pairs of MAVIC rims having entirely mismatched labeling. I have seen MAVIC rims of the type exhibiting primary and secondary labels where each of same were applied in a different orientation relative to one another on the very same rim. And I have seen instances where vintage MAVIC rims arrived from the factory absent any label whatsoever.

As the French would say, c'est la vie.

The bottom line is that the "official" difference between an MA versus MA 2 clincher rim is as I previously explained - single versus double eyelets. This despite whatever you might actually have sitting in front of you to suggest otherwise. Consider yourself lucky - most folks would prefer to have an MA 2 as opposed to an MA regardless of label. And if you are so inclined as to try and rectify a great wrong in some cosmic sense, Greg Softley would likely be more than happy to sell to you a pair of very nice reproduction MA 2 labels that should do the trick.

Robert, your explanation makes sense but at the same time, my MA rims do have double eyelets.
