I have heard (now you can certainly count on that), there was a carry-over of parts when Masi of California closed. The principles moved out of sta te and liquidated some of the inventory including the tubing and lugs. Then , of course, the trio of skilled craftsmen formed Medici. There seems to be slight nuances in the change, and without the BB with the cut-out someone could swear that without the paint job and the decals, it would be a Masi. Later, I am told there was a distinct set of lugs done by Mario Confente. Then is it true, that if you could not afford a Masi , buy a Medici? BT

Bruce,
I think they were a very popular lug set, back in those days. You could
very well have a Medici made with them, although I think Medici is most
often associated with a different lugset that was designed by Mario
Confente. I believe De Rosa and others also used the lugs in the auction.
These look like the later, investment cast version of the old Nervex Ref. 3

lugset with windows. See:

The earlier, stamped versions of the Nervex lugs are easily distinguished b y the wider "spoon" shape on the underside of the down tube socket of the lower head lug.

Folks, there is an auction on eBay now that features some lugs for sale. I looked at my Medici lugs and they look the same. Is there a high simi larity between the two or am I wrong? eBay# 110315444037 BT
