Well, I finally rode my 'new' Trek 610. You may recall I was searching for a replacement to the quite small model I had for years. My search turned up a frame in my size, located here in LA, and offered by a fellow List member. Only thing is it was painted Rustoleum green (but had some nice gold lug lining !). I grabbed it, because I wanted to use it as a test bed for an acrylic clear coat system I was experimenting with. So I figured no matter what it looks like, it'll be my 'winter weather' rider, and let me test out the clear cote.

I posted a while back about finding 610 decals, and it seems there are none out there. Which makes sense - 84 'sports bikes' werent super popular or desirable. But when another list member posted some of the earlier, classic seat tube vinyls... well I couldnt resist. Now, I know it's not proper - but it turned out pretty well.

Take a look - and tell me if I've committed a truly unforgiveable sin: http://www-hsc.usc.edu/~rpinder/trek610.html

( the matching handle bar bag was made my my sister, in something like 1970 - from a kit company called 'FrostLine' - anyone recall them ? Off topic, but they offered GREAT kit projects for cycling and other outdoor sports. GLAD I found it for this green machine Trek.

I came up with a plan - I'm working on my "Twelve Days of Bicycle Christmas". Do any of you have those bike projects, that are JUST about completed.... or you've got the bike riding, but SOMETHING is not quite right ? We'll, my goal in this two week vacation is to work on, and complete, TWELVE of these things (above Trek is one !).... It'll be a GREAT feeling if I pull it off.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy Holiday season ....
