It was with Sheldon's assistance in the form of his web pages devoted to fixed gear conversions and fixed wheel cycling that I found yet another joyous form of cycling. In fact, he built the rear wheel for my first fixed gear bike. May it stay as straight and true as its builder.
Not surprisingly, I have a handfull of fixed wheel bikes at this point with the latest a 1947 Bates BAR with inch pitch drivetrain nearly ready to take the road again. I will think of what a wonderful educator he was when I ride it and strive to share the knowledge and enthusiasm imparted by him to others with the grace and wit that characterized his contributions. I think that there is little doubt among us that our memories of him will insure his status as a truly legendary member of the cycling community.
Thanks, Sheldon.
