There's no need to get your undies in a knot over a simple list rule. It's there to help all of us, not to intimidate us or extract personal information that could be missused by others. When I see items for sale, specific advice or details about a particular builder, frame or component, it has far mor credibility if the poster and his/her location is clearly identified. I see stuff on http://www.bikeforums.net all the time where someone in one unknown part of the world asks where to buy a certain item and someone else in another unknown part of the world tells them to go to a particular U.S. store. On this CR List it's obvious that 80% or 90% of the regular contributors are from the USA but it seems to me some of the most valuable contributions come from those outside the USA, where most of our bikes originated. Stating your address as a cryptic US state abbreviation or US zip code may be absolutely useless to someone outside the USA and, frankly, a bit arrogant. It also seems to me that most contributors here from outside the USA always sign off correctly, whereas many of those located in The Center of the Universe expect everyone to recognize some cryptic abbreviation or nickname for a city or state or a US zip code. Anyway, I guess there's already been too much said on the subject. I just wanted to get my 2 cents Canadian in (which is currently 2.01306 cents US) before Dale calls a halt to this nonsense.
