I have one of these cotter pin presses, and it's quite good. It works better
than the Park press
the shop I work for has.

They're also readily available, which is good.
Re- threading the cranks isn't that hard, but I'm just plain against it in most cases. And especially so if the cranks are really that interesting. If they're just common ones like nervar sport, sure. But for a more unusual crank, I'd probably just use a pair of French thread pedals. I may have a pair around somewhere if you'd like to try that, not anything fancy, but I've a few French bike boom type bikes that probably have French thread pedals, and would actually benefit from re-tapping to 9/16

I was wondering if anyone had a cottered pin press that they were looking to sell or would be willing to let me borrow? I have come across a real interesting set of NOS cottered cranks and would like to give them a try. Also, they are threaded for French pedals so I will need to tap them from English pedals. Has anyone done this and do you have any tips? Thanks.
