Subject: [CR]french stripper?

Oh, you said stripped French! My mistake, a thousand pardons. The most common fix is tapping them to fit British standard 9/16. This is only a dilemma if the pedals are french thread and a 9/16 pedal of the same model is not available. The taps are available from Park or if it is a one time thing, go to a reputable, ie. not a department store selling, bike shop. they should have the correct taps. You will need a left and a right. If the person at the shop doesn't understand what the problem is, go to another shop. A good hint is a shop that has been around for a while and has somew old bikes hanging from the rafters or on the walls. the retapping for 9/16 is relatively straight forward. It is not a bad idea to have the taps to clean threads on any crank before screwing in pedals. Happy Trails,John StrizekSacratomato,
