Those cages don't look anything like chromed steel to me in the photos, and I doubt that- given the pedals apparent excellent condition- that the chrome's gone all dull. Chrome doesn't really turn matte like that anyway over age, it gets pinprick rust spots or peels.

Then there's this bit from the description: "All the *aluminium* teeth remain sharp with virtually no wear at all."
