I made the choice to slide the levers north on my Colnago because I once jammed my finger into a spinning tire while reaching for the shift lever. Haven't made that mistake again since the move. http://sports.webshots.com /photo/1170717552040632288OljRPG

"It is frightening at times having ones fingers inadvertently rub the tire a centimeter or two behind the almost-finger-sized gap between tire and fork crown, especially when wearing full-fingered gloves.
It seems too likely that one's finger(s) could get pulled under the crown!!!"
Does anyone else know of a person who wiped their tire from the wrong side of the fork and did an end-O?
It's been done, here in Los Angeles.
