Recently I was taught this ( I thought it was a common method): Use
screwdriver at the closed end to push the pad up alightly. Follow with
closed needlenose athe point where the screwriver was but open rather than
close pliars so the needles spread and push out the pad. Works great for me.
Also why use soap that you can't get out. Few drops of Rubbing alcohol or
water will make it slick and then evaporate.
