How I HATE the term "fixie"! I suppose "fixed" is okay, but I prefer "fixed wheel". That's what I learned originally over 50 years ago. It's the antonym of "freewheel". Even "fixed gear" is not entirely correct because it could just as easily mean a bike with a single speed freewheel.
