Subject: [CR] Texas Velo Roundup...the aftermath

Just a note that the Texas Velo Roundup was quite a success. Having picture perfect weather certainly played a big part. About 20 people and about 30+ plus bikes also played a big part in the show . Host Randy Murphy set up a studio and got top notch pictures of (we think) every bike. Jon Fischer (of Velobase.com fame) plans to host the pics on his site. It was great to leave a stop sign and not hear (many) clipless pedal clicks ! Bikes were mostly on topic with a nice group of heavyweights to balance thi ngs a bit. A couple of whizzer-like 2 stroke motorized bikes showed up. I had hoped to use them to draft behind, but the cloud of blue smoke was a bit much... Also a VERY cool tandem with dual steering linked by a chain. About 12 people enjoyed the ride to and around White Rock Lake. Several liv e in that area so we returned with fewer than we started with (which made m e a bit nervous...) Only flat was before we even started the ride, clearly the Gods of weather and sharp things were both in our favor.

Great people, fun bikes, fun ride. In the morning I was thinking "why on ea rth did I organize this?" End of the day, I am very glad to have done so!

Now if only I can guarantee a picture perfect weather day for next year

Cheers from sunny yesterday and stormy today Dallas, TX, USA, Earth! -Clyde Putman
