I've always had the belief that it was never the best proceedure to mix alloy bars with a chromed steel stem, the reaction between the two materials will cause a failure in due course?

But is this the case?......how come alloy seat posts don't fail?.........ok, some have been known to break.

On the understanding that alloy can be chromed........I once had a pair of early Nuovo Record brake levers chromed......would it be beneficial to have a pair of alloy bars chromed, even if it's just the center section, so as to eliminate the contact of alloy against chromed steel???

How many of you lot out there have experienced failure between alloy and steel, hopefully without serious injury!.....and what are your thoughts on chroming the alloy bars......good idea or waste of time?

Cheers
