Todd, I had the same problem with my PX-10 a couple of years ago. I got an all-metal Simplex 102 from Velo-Orange and never looked back. I was happy to replace the old "Super Competition" (Actually LJA 200 Criterium), as the plastic was too skinny at the clamp, and it was doomed to fail there.

As another option, I have an NOS SXA 32 I will sell for $25 delivered if you prefer the Delrin & chrome look. This is a mid-range model, not high-end, but the plastic is beefier at the clamp pivot, and a definite improvement over earlier Delrin models, IMHO. Search eBay 230343538482 for pictures and more description.
