You could do, but I suspect the chainstays will be a lighter guage than the 'proper' 22mm round fork blades, and they will almost certainly have a ovalised section too.......

Whilst on this topic of round fork blades, anyone remember Merckx using round forks, with a Eklar crown, on what I assume to be a Masi built frame in the 70 TDF [team Faemino].........pic now on my flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevin_sayles_bikes/
