If the rim is drilled for Shraeder valves (which would be unlikely - though not impossible - for a 7/8" wide rim) you would use an adapter such as this: http://www.bikeman.com/RM9002.html or a rubber grommet: http://www.thethirdhand.com/index.cgi?d=single&c=Tire/Tube&sc=Rim%20Grommet&tc=&item_id=CU-87685&id441232850

You can actually find the appropriate grommets at the hardware store or Radio Shack. It's not really a problem.
