Martin, Steve and all,

I've looked up the Van Herwerden advertisement I had in my head, it's in Wielerexpress 1985 (Wielerespress is ananuual publication by Jan Zomer, and quite interesting, every year for that matter!). Unfortunately my printer/scanner is out of order, so I'll represent whats in the ad here. It shows 14 small pics of black anodized and panto'd parts:

1. Black Campa Record hubs 2. Black panto'd Campa Super Record brake levers 3. Black and panto'd Campagnolo seatpost Super Record and Record 4. Aluminum bottle cage Balckburn 5. Campa Super chainrings, black and panto'd ('Chesini' or 'Super Record') 6. Black steel and alloy toeclips 7. Campa aero brake levers (cables through handlebar) 8. Complete handlebar/stem black or white leather covered 9. Chesini cassette hubs 7 speed lightweight, black (they look like OMAS to me) 10. prepared leather for handlebar black or white 11. aero wheel for time trials (Silva) 12. Campa black panto'd and milled gearlevers ('C' for Chesini I think) 13. TTT black panto'd stem ('Super Record') 14. Cinelli black panto'd stem ('Super Record')

And the list of frames that they stock:

- Raleigh - Alan - Colnago - Van Herwerden - Chesini - Zullini - Concorde - Gazelle - Gios - Masi - Merckx - Pinarello - Rossin - Vitus
>From the late 70s when I got interested in race bikes, I did pretty much the same thing as Steve, peer through the shop window ... walk in sometimes, look around drooling, but never really bought anything. And I didnt buy that cheap gasoline ... I still remember those cromovelato frames, with aero positioning of gearlevers, gearcables through the tubes, etc. Couldn't afford them too .... Van Herwerden was certainly not a discount shop!
