Listers,
I was watching some Campi bolt-on rear dropout adjusters (fleabay # 260349493099 ), as I'd only seen the Simplex version before, and was blown away at the winning bid:
$257.00 US dollars (shipping is $6 more)...
I'm sure I could never justify the cost per ounce of anything Campagnolo at that price, and I'm really glad I'm a Simplex fan. (The Simplex bolt-on adjusters sell for about 1/10 of the above "Campi cachet" price, for which I'd mix and match in a heartbeat, just like I always have.)
MORE ON CRANKS
I'm looking forward to the lower-gearing options on the Stronglight 99s (86 MM BCD), but wish the rings were a bit more available like their 93 crankset brethren (122 MM BCD) are. The 74MM BCD inner has worked really well on my Wheelsmith-modified NR (144/74) Campi cranks and on my (off-topic) Eisentraut's Campi Chorus racing Triple. On the Eisentraut, I rode one SF to LA AIDS/LifeCycle ride using the original 30T inner, but have loved the 24T inner (careful shifting required, plus anti-chain-drop hardware like a MTB) since my LBS installed this "hot rod" modification before the second SF-LA ride, so life was much easier on my knees.
I'm not sure I have been well served by the increasing "Q" factors (wider cranks) now available--but then again, I have been through some significant (and unplanned) "modifications" of my orthopedic infrastructure, too...Again, thank God for Phil Wood's widely adjustable BBs....
Has anyone noticed any significant differences between the "open star" 93/105 crank arms and Stronglight's later 101 and 104 cranks, which had solid spiders and the same 122MM BCD?
Thanks,
