Subject: [CR] FS/FT: '74 Pogliaghi Tandem 53.5 ctt Captain and Stoker

I just bought this tandem with the idea of trading it for a road, or pista Pogliaghi. I'm looking for something before '75 around 55 cm. This Tandem was bought in Italy in 1974. The weird thing is there's no serial number on it anywhere. It measures the same on the captain and the stoker: 55cm ctc on the top tubes and 53.5cm ctt on the seat tubes. The frame needs some work to shine. The only real rust is what you can see on the fork crown and a little on the captains seat tube where there's about a quarter-sized area of paint missing. That spot could be cleaned up easily. The crown I'm sure could shine up a bit, but you wont be able to get all the chrome back there. Other than that the frame will look really nice after a polish. I just cleaned one area of the seat stay above the brake bridge and it looks like new. All decals are intact, but some are fading or flaky. The components look like they've seen maybe 1000 miles of use. The black finish on the pedal cages hasn't been worn through (i have the stoker pedals, they're just not installed in these photos), and there's virtually no wear to the crank arms or teeth on the chainring. All components are Campy - Record derailleurs, 172.5 Campy Strada and Pista Cranks arms, bottom bracket and headset. I just had the headset and front hub repacked and the bars re-taped to ride home from the bike store it was shipped to. It rides nice! If I can't find a trade I will sell the bike for $2,000. The store it was shipped to has all the materials to box it up again and I will assist in having them ship. I also found a very affordable and reliable carrier.
