Subject: [CR] Update on Hi-E Spokes

For those with enough interest in strange components to follow the recent Hi-E threads, I had found that even though the unique Hi-E nipples are 15 ga, they didn't fit modern 15 ga DT spokes. I was advised by the list that there were different spoke threads for a given gauge, with Robergel and maybe other French manufacturers using a different thread than most Italian/Swiss/US/Japanese spoke makers. A couple of members advised that Robergel spokes might work with the Hi-E nipples.

So I bought a couple of sets of Robergel 15/16 ga spokes Mike Kone was selling on eBay. They arrived today. Happily, the Hi-E nipples do thread on the way on. From three original wheels, I have enough Hi-E nipples to build two wheels with them. One of these wheels originally has 295 mm spokes, and I'm confident the 294's I got from Mike will work. But the other wheel had 297 mm spokes, and I'm not so sure the 294's will work there. Anyone have a wheel's worth of Robergel Trois Etoiles 15/16 296 or 297 mm spokes for sale?
