Marcus, are those Lake shoes current product? I need a set of toeclip/cleat shoes I can wear for long distances.

I've also not found any foot removal problems with toeclips - never fallen due to this in about 40 years. It might seem that you need to tighten down the straps, but it reality you don't. If they are loose enough that you can get your foot seated right when starting up with just a shove forward, they are loose enough to easily extract your foot even in traffic and with old-fashioned hard cleats. I can't imagine it being harder than clipless.
