Greg,
Thanks for sharing the naked Colnago photos. Dale suggested stripping the paint; you did it! Looks like Brians comments are right on. That seat stay top is cast, and integrated with the seat lug. Creative detail!

Hi crew,
I have just returned home from Xmas travels during which I have been
watching with keen interest postings re the1968 Colnago. This bike is
a very significant find.
I have amassed a lot of information/ pictures/ anecdotes regarding
the early Colnago / Molteni bikes and have magnified close-up pics of
bare frame lug work and the variety and timeline of lugs and graphics.
All of this can be viewed within two sets of my flickr site.
First set 'Early Colnago / Molteni Timeline covers a fair bit of
ground mainly concerned with the variations of bikes Colnago built
using these specific lug sets in the mid to late 60s. Some great
close-ups of a couple of spare frames I have (one shot blasted) and I
expect further debate about the seat lug / seat stay arrangement.
