There has been a lot of talk about the outrageous cost of all these new bikes that add nothing to the technology or experience of cycling. I used a web based calculator to estimate what $430 for a complete Campy Colnago bought in 1975 would cost in 2009. Accounting for inflation and other factors they calculate the 2009 equivalent would be$4,093. I you sop wisely you can get pretty close to top of the line (off topic) CF (sorry Dale) in that price range.
