Subject: [CR] help with CLB brake levers

I'm requesting some wisdon from the group. I'm trying to install CLB invers e brake levers on a set of Belleri  U shaped bars.Very within the timelin e. I have drilled out a small hole to allow the screw that secures the br ake lever body into the handlebars, and another small hole to allow the bra ke wire to exit the bars. (these levers run the brake cable inside the bars ) Here is my problem. If I run the wire bare to the place it exits the bar,
I think it will be cut rather quickly by the friction, so I ran brake hous ing down the inside of the bar toward the brake lever body...but the plasti c housing begins to peal off as I use the brake, and the cantis get mushy a nd finally are too loose to stop. Not good. Should I widen the hole in the bar a bit so I can put a metal ferrule on the cable housing...will this mak e a hard connection sufficient to keep the tension on the brake cable? Was there a special double ferrule to mount at the bar back in the day to
run the brake cable bare through the inside of the bar? Some other way t o do this? I like the looks of the set-up but I can't decide what will ma ke it work.   thanks in advance Doug Wagner Richmond,KY US
