Subject: Re: [CR] shoes & cleats

I made my own aluminum slotted cleats in 1948 in high school metal shop. They had two drilled and tapped holes and attached with flat head screws from the inside, under the insole. My cycling shoes laced down far enough to provide room for the screw driver to attach the cleats. Those cleats took me all the way to the ABLA Nationals in 1949. This year I'm planning to celebrate the 60th anniversary of that race by logging some track time at Hellyer. Does anybody sell the old-time slotted aluminum cleats or should I look for a high school kid who's taking metal shop?
