An introduction first: Thanks for this list, Dale! I am joyful to know that there are others who came out of the same cookie cutter, a love for older classic bicycles. My name is Dave, home is Green Bay, Wisconsin. Grew up in Iowa, been a few places in between, and here now for 20 years. More than my share of two-wheelers in the fleet. I was part of the bike boom, born in '55. The love for bikes returned to me about two years ago, now commuting year round and doing repairs.
Inventory includes a variety of machines, four of which are restored road bikes and are on display in my office. My finest pleasure is to find these treasures, rescue them and breath life back into them down in my shop. Sounds like youse guys!
I have enjoyed lurking here for a few days. Thank-you to the list owner for a well run list.
I had searched for a bike repair database but could not find anything with a detailed check list like I wanted. And so we made a "poor man's database"... With permission for it's use, I found a checklist and built the spreadsheet around it, adding my details to it. With it, I "save as" for every bike that comes to me, and organize them by brand name. I can look back on each machine and know everything done, even records of the conditions of such things as the cones and rebuilt bearings, things otherwise forgotten. I would be happy to share it should anyone be interested.
