Amir On Friday I refitted the headbadge to My Holdsworth using a couple of copper rivets that I got from Nick at Lloyds. The rivets were about 1cm long, however I shortened then to 5-6mm including the head.

We put a piece of 1-1/8" steerer tube in the vise to serve as an anvil, then hammered on the rivet's domed head via a drift with a matching depression in the end. It is a two person job- one to hold the frame over the anvil, the other to do the whacking.

I put a dab of silicone gasket behind the badge to damp out any future rattles.

I've taken off a lot of headbadges lately in preparation for repaints.

I've also accumulated a stock of NOS rivets.

How are these mounted?

      - with a hammer or mallet?

Must something be placed inside the headtube to bump against and cause the rivet to expand?

    - all my old Raleighs Headbadge rivets were expanded on the inside.       I can't figure out how this was done ... any ideas?
