Daniel, and a big Thankyou Charlie, I find CR most useful as a resource. And
its members most helpful, not unlike a learned society. A University for
Cycles, this particular branch being heavily weighted to Italian, French and
the American bike boom era of the 1970's. There have been attempts at
establishing a similar base in the UK, notably Tim Gunn's Electric Bike
Forum but I believe that the enthusiasts and collectors in the UK are
largely from an earlier era and many are not computer users. There are a
hardcore now of new CR UK users and momentum is growing.
I hope to expand my knowledge of my chosen subject and to feed it out onto
the flickr pages which are developing nicely into a library of images with
my descriptions and detailed close ups for other restorers.
Daniel, as far as components are concerned for your machine the frame and
its dimensions (rear dropout width, axle slot size, brazeons etc) will
dictate what you can fit without resorting to ''cold setting'' or surgery.
It is likely a fifties frame and not capable of taking the components you
suggest. It is likely that the brazeons are for Simplex or Huret gears and
the axle slots may not be wide enough for axles with quick release skewers.
If I could be availed of further photos of brazeons and relevant dimensions
I could advise further. I have been in touch with Neil at Atlantic Boulevard
who I believe is doing the respray on behalf of of Sargent & Co. Is this
correct? Mark Stevens Evanton Scotland
