Hang on a minute .... don't I remember Jelly Roll Morton telling us that, whilst Mississippi water 'taste like sherry wine', Michigan water 'taste like turpentine'?
I wouldn't advise putting turps on your Brooks saddle - not half as bad as neatsfoot oil, though.
