Subject: [CR] Tools For Sale

In celebration of Velo Classique and MPI actually surviving their first year (almost anyway), I'm offering a few select tools to the CR list. What doesn't sell will be at the Westminster Swap next month, (but not necessarily at the same price). Quantities are limited, first come, first served.

Prices do not include shipping, and I can accept PayPal of checks. Write me here with questions.

1. VAR # 59 Sprocket Removing Pliers. This is a pro tool for loosening/removing the small sprocket of a freewheel block. One chain/jaw holds the second sprocket while the other holds and removes the top sprocket when pliers are squeezed together. Possibly the best tool ever for this job as it greatly simplifies the task. You don't need anything to hold the freewheel, this tool holds the FW and you squeeze with one hand (or maybe both if it's really jammed). If you rebuild freewheels, or just want to have a really complete compliment of bike tools (especially if you own or work in a shop), this is a very cool tool. VAR no longer makes this tool! 15 available. Below wholesale cost at $28ea.

2. VAR #17 Spoke End Cutter. Shop quality tool (with replaceable jaws) used to trim spoke ends flush with nipple heads. Okay, I've built a lot of wheels and this has rarely been a real problem if you use the right spoke/rim/nipple combo, but there are times I which I had had one, and now I do. And having spokes end cut flush on a finished wheel looks pretty darn cool. Really want to build pro wheels? Still in current VAR production. 5 available. Below wholesale cost at $28ea.

3. Park CDG-1 Chainwheel bolt circle diameter gauge. A nifty little tool to quickly and easily determine bolt circle diameter (BCD) on chainrings. Works even when they are mounted on crankarms. I don't think Park makes this any longer, which surprises me, but it no longer appears on their web site. 4 available at $20ea.

4. Stronglight Crankarm Extractor -22mm. Stronglight made this tool for their 23.35 cranks too, BUT THIS IN NOT THAT ONE! This one is for 22mm cranks (the size for most common cranks such as Campag, Shimano, etc.). 15 available. $5ea.

5. New in box Gian Robert Italian-made chain pliers. A pretty cool old-school chain rivet tool, but the box could be even cooler than the tool. Don't use this on one of them new-fangled 10 speed chains! Believe it or not, the original retail price for this tool was almost $100! 4 available at $35ea.

That's it for now. Obviously, combining items saves on shipping. OR, I can deliver items to the Westminster Swap on Feb 14th., where I'll have lots more interesting stuff.
