I've just bought a couple of interesting items on eBay.
The first is an original 1930's photo from "Cycling" showing an RRA-mounted rider at the start of a time trial.
The second is a 1933 Raleigh "LIST OF SPARE PARTS REPAIRS AND RENOVATIONS", which details the Record model crankset (fluted) and the Raleigh Record Ace model crankset (unfluted).
To see scans of these items, go to:

I've had some off-list correspondence with Paul Rayley, which suggests that the fluted cranks were adopted by Raleigh for late 30s RRAs.

I'm not sure whether the wing bolt illustrated was from an RRA, since it's made of steel, and not aluminium alloy, which I've been told was used for the RRA wing bolts; however, it's of the correct pattern. Raleigh used chromed steel wing bolts of the same pattern as the RRA alloy ones on other sporting models.
