Hi Jerry: I am not sure if this is what you are talking about or not but if for no other reason but self indulgience I thought I would give er a try. When I dish a wheel set in an "old fashoined" truing stand I will set an indicator up to one side of the wheel and then turn it around in the stand to the opposite side without moving that indicator to see how far off I am. I will then tension the spokes on the one side of the wheel no more than one half turn or so and then go back to my tension meter to see what we are doing to keep consistency and then repeat the process until when I butt one indicator up against one side of the wheel and then do the turn around that indicator brushes up against the other side without moving the indicator. When I have that I know that my wheel is properly dished. More times than not this is a long process that includes truing the wheel always when you are going back and forth in all of the axis (w,x,y,and z). This is a lot easier understood when showing in person rather than trying to explain in writing. It is one of my favorite things to do in wheel building and the most rewarding when complete. Seeya
