Hi Jerry, all

Unearthed this req for info which you posted (and I missed) at the end of '09. As I'm *finally* working on my build using a real beater version of this crankset, and can share some esoteric info I've dug up over the past few years...

- there seem to have been two versions produced of middle-ring diameters: 130mm and 110mm. You might notice on your crank, as on mine, that the forging for the outer chainwheel has artifacts of where they must have plugged the mold? I.e.: even though mine is drilled for 130, I can clearly see marks for 5 positions at the 110 size.

- 85mm inner bcd is also ostensibly the granny size of Tevano triples. Mark Bulgier passed one of these to somebody on-list for a mere song just recently... hope you're using it! :-)

- and, seeing as mine came unto me sans granny (read:anyone else with an idle Tevano granny???)... "To hell with this wacky forged outer chainwheel anyhow!," thought I as I cleverly substituted a set of TA triple rings I have. Discovered then that the 5-pins securing the outer to arm are a proprietary keyed design- much like a seatpost binder bolt, for example- and the chainwheel also bears notches to receive these keys. Hence, you can't just use the five Shimano bolts/washers/nuts with other 5-pin rings (keys interfere with tightening)...

- the bearings for the touring pedals (as other DynaDrive?) may be rebuilt (allegedly) using standard bottom bracket-sized balls - although there might also have been a special Shimano wrench required for pedal maintenance? I will be investigating this soon, as my set are quite crunchy.

- Bob Hanson shared a wonderful illustration of the Deore touring group: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stronglight/2101608669
