Malcolm- I'll take a swing at your questions.
Think of pitted races as being a road with pot holes. New tires (bearings) won't smoothen out the ride. Now resurfacing the road (as in regrinding the races) would do the job. See the recent thread on race regrinding. (See post with this subject "[CR] ebay auction for spindle regrinding service #120521983989").
This list will either strip out any photos or attachments or not send the posting as the file will be too large. Most of us have established a photo sharing account with Flicker or another service. Then we just post a link to the photo's web address. BTW please don't use a service that requires the viewer to register, I'll just pass that by.
