I wouldn't mind selling my one remaining Sports Tourer but as most have said and I concur, prices are soft in general and STs specifically don't really bring much unless a buyer(s) must have it. Maybe they'll bring big money in Europe or Japan if hand-delivered...hint, hint?
I think Sports Tourers continue to suffer from the same niche problem as 40 years ago; they obviously aren't in the same league as Paramounts (which are relatively common and most were coddled) and to the untrained eye, look alot like Varsinentals. Picking one up with 531DB-trained biceps and...well, lets just say they are robust. However, they do have their anachronistic charms ranging from same stem-shifters as 1958 Studebaker heater-controls to Nervar-Bizarro and pizza pie-plates which endear them to their geezer owners by standing-out in a sea of lessor bikes and thus easy for tired eyes to find.
The collectable bike market appears to be following my local housing market and perhaps other markets as well. There are a few well-heeled gentry that still have good jobs and will pay record prices for the cream; but the mid to bottom fails to attain previous prices as most folk tighten their belts and even try and unload...thus the spike on Ebay.
