Hi Ken, Yes, I think that you are right about there not being a hard transition to the Prugnat lugs. Also, I have seen at least one PX10 with Nervex lugs and the later fork crown. The serial number of my PX-10 frame is 626968. Not sure of the exact build date, as I bought the frame alone. Peter Rogers

I have a 1968 or 1969 one, and I'd agree with what Peter has observed.
I'd be surprised if 1971 was a hard transition away from Nervex lugs. The PX-10 "scholars" I'm aware of have not noted that as a formal procedural change made by Peug, though I can't argue with what anyone has observed. The view seems to be that "configuration control" was a bit haphazard. Presumably some guy in the plant had the job of dumping more lugs into a bin that the frame builders used, and the frame builder put together a set from what was in his bin. If on Thursday he had Nervex, he built with Nervex. If on Tuesday he had Prugnat, ... well, I think we all follow.
It's pretty widely accepted that the S/Ns are not a sign of much of anything, but I'd be glad to add mine to the thread a little later on. It might be worth at least comparing them.

Dear Jack,
From the investigations that I have made and examination of a late 1960's
PX-10 frame that I have, below are the main features that I am aware of (assuming the frame is painted white):
BB shell was painted white, with a stamped frame serial number The ellipse-shaped top ends of the back stays were painted black with a surrounding gold line. The seat pillar pinch-bolt lug was painted white The head lugs were painted black The fork crown was painted white, with chrome epaulettes The edges of the chromed forks (front that back) had gold lines where they meet the paint
Not sure of the exact date of when the change away from the Nervex Pro lugs occurred, but I think that it happened in 1971.
What is the serial number of your Peugeot? It is probably pretty close to the one on the frame that I have.
I hope that this helps.
All the best, Peter Rogers

Well, the summer is apparently starting to cook here in Northern Cal...what with Singers for a Song and all that. I'll have to be satisfied with my humdrum recent 60's PX-10 acquisition. Knowing how tricky dating these lovelies is, I'll report that close inspection of Prestige derailleur revealed a stamping (3-68) on jockey cage. This closely coincides with probable build date of this PX-10 w/Model 93.
Also, I noticed that pics of 60's PX-10s (if B&W), have black-painted seat-lug and BB shell while 70's are left white...just head-lugs black. I wonder if this change can be traced to a specific year and ditto change away from Nervex Pro during 70's PX-10?
