MIKE KOWAL ROAD FRAME c1979 Reynolds 531SL
Seat Tube (ctt): 20.5in (52cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 20.5in (52cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 45mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531SL
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Mike Kowal is one of the lesser known builders but this early example of
his work shows just how good a builder he was - it is really quite
superb... Its built from Reynolds 531SL tubing which was the thinner
walled 531 pretty similar in weight to 753 but not quite as strong. The
paint and chrome are in excellent condition with only a few small marks.
It complete with an excellent headset. 175 GBP

COUGAR 753 ROAD FRAME Unused

Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 128mm

Cougar road frames from the late 1980s/early 1990s built by Terry Dolan
are really rather good - Terry Dolan learnt to build frames with the
fabled Harry Quinn and this shows in the care and accuracy of his
frames. This new and unused Reynolds 753 frame from about 1989/90 is
really cool and is painted in what are the iconic Cougar colours. It
has had a rear wheel and rear deraileur fitted but has never been fully
built up. A bargain at 225 GBP

MERCIAN CAMPIONISSIMO ROAD FRAME 1954
Seat Tube (ctt): 21.5in (55cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm)
Rear dropout width: 118mm
Wheel size: 27s or 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 60mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This very beautiful 1954 Mercian Campionissimo road frame is really
rather special - it looks 100% original - however it has a period
repaint by Rattrays of Glasgow (the builders of Flying Scot frames)
complete with the original transfers... I would imagine that this was
done in the late 50s/early 60s. The paint is in very good/excellent
condition with only a few small marks. The transfers are generally very
good though not perfect. It has Simplex forged ends together with cable
braze-ons for a Simplex Juy 53 front derailleur operated by a
handlebar-end control. The Simplex gear lever for the rear gear in
sincluded and was probably used with a Simplex TDF or Juy 51 rear gear.
This frame is really exceptional with the only flaw being a slightly
squashed rear brake bridge. 195 GBP

CLAUD BUTLER HYPERLITE FRAME 1948
Seat Tube (ctt): 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
Rear dropout width: 115mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 54mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
This is a very sound Claud Butler road frame from 1948 which is thought
to be their Hyperlite model and is built from Reynolds 531 double butted
tubing and has Claud Butler Continental rear dropouts together with a
splendid Bastide type fork crown. 89 GBP

BRIAN ROURKE ROAD FRAME c1996
Seat Tube (ctt): 20.5in (52cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 20.75in (52.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 42mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531C
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Brian Rourke framesets were and some I believe are still produced in
their own workshop by Paul Washington - this frame features his very
distinctive and special wrap over seat stays. And has hardly been used
- the kit that was taken off looked as if it had not done 100 miles...
The paint is truly excellent with just a couple of small chips. This
frame I think dates from the middle/late 1990s. I was very impressed by
Paul Washington\u2019s workshop when I visited about 12 years ago and his
frames are really rather special. 175 GBP

MERCKX ROAD FRAME 1970s
Seat Tube (ctc): 55cm
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm
Rear dropout width: 122mm
Wheel size: 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 50mm
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Mercks road frames from the early 1970s are very rare in this country.
Merckx licensed the use of his name to different builders in countries
across Europe - in England inexplicably it was Falcon but in Belgium it
was Kessels. This frame sourced from Germany was probably built by
Kessels. Its obviously a quality frame with drilled lugs and heavily
slotted BB shell. The frame weight is about 2kg and it takes a 27.0mm
seatpost so is built from good quality tubing. The long Campy dropouts
suggest it is from the first half of the 1970s. 195 GBP

Bottom bracket threads: British

This fillet brazed lugless Claud Butler International Club road frame
from 1947 is in very sound condition and will look really quite
spectacular when carefully repainted. 75 GBP
