Robert,

Chuck also puts on a really nice display at his booth each year at the San Diego Custom Bicycle Show (now the International Bicycle Framebuilders Exposition in San Diego in April 2011). One can come visit Chuck at the show and see lots of vintage stuff. We also have a great vintage collection presented by the Southwest Milano Cycle Club (Matty Gosrki and friends) each year. There is plenty of vintage gear and a vintage vibe to our show. Make plans to attend in 2011 and ride the Colnago Grand Fondo on the same weekend here in San Diego. Make your plans to attend NOW!

Hi Folks!

Sorry for being a little late with this.

I visited Chuck Hoefer's shop down in Oceanside July 17th, 2010 having detached

myself from the family stuff to do some little sub-travelling of my own.

Chuck stuck his head up - hence the visit. Gotta say that while I'm used to most shops having maybe 2-3 classic/vintage bikes or parts lying around in a corner somewhere - quite frankly I wasn't prepared for what Chuck has.

Quite simply - 1/4-1/3 of his shop is literally a museum of bikes from way back - including an old Olmo. He has a strong bias toward Masi - nothing wrong

with that. As a matter of fact - in passing - I mentioned to Chuck that if he doesn't have the reputation already, he'll be remembered as the guy to drop off

lonely, neglected and abandoned Masi's with for a rescue of the religious sorts.

(The nun handles the register and is quite nice...didn't get her name Chuck!)

He's got a couple Masi's he's working on - they're without doubt in the right hands.

His collection of bikes are right out there on the sales floor with his contemporary for-sale bikes so getting up close and checking his collection out

while he is busy with customers is quite easy.

If you folks are ever in the larger San Diego / Los Angeles area and looking for a shop you've never visited - put Pacific Coast Cycles at the top of your visit list. Plan to stay a couple hours - and grab a shirt while you are at it. It's a great way to keep a record of where you have been.
