JP may have rode a 43 X30 on the 80 Km but it your guy is doing the 130 or the 200+ he may die. I rode a 41 X 36 last time on the 130 and did fine. Ain't nearly as strong as I once was but not too bad. One should have a bailout gear IMHO unless you are fine with walking the 20+ % dirt pitches. Edward Albert Chappaqua, New York, U.S.A
