garth,
Wow, glad I can't afford to own an SUV! I might grow fat and dull before my time. Fortunately you won't find me behind (possibly under) the wheel of a Cadilliy Ack whatcha-ma-callit either, because one should never drive a car they can't pronounce the name of. I agree with you in that the charm of the bicycle is in it's simplicity in addition to how easy it is to build one to specific needs with simple hand tools and minimal fixturing. The bicycle frame is a marvelous and unique piece of equipment that epitomizes the union of man and machine to produce the most effecient machine known to man (calories per hour for distance traveled). It's 97% effecient from what I recollect.

> Someone, who should remain nameless, has made the error of comparing the suppleness and comfort of a Cadillac Esquilade to the gestalt of a classic road bike. First, I consider that only the beauty of a pared down sports car could ever even enter into a comparison with a classic road bike. We do not load our classic bikes with heavy, gimmicky and unneeded items. Our bikes are beautiful because they represent economy, minimalism and art, all at the same time. A classic sports car that has no heat
