I have a really nice "Bike - Boom" era Liberia bicycle in the basement . It is currently NOT accessible . But it is safe and sound .
I bought it out of pity . It was just one step away from being stripped for parts , with the frame and fork thrown onto the scrap heap . It has many of those cheap foil stickers that die so quickly , and yet they're all in perfect condition . It has un-attractive , muddy-brown , paint . But it's fairly high-quality metallic paint . And the paint is in perfect condition . The derailleurs are Camp. Nuovo Record ( 1971 maybe ? ) . The crankset is a Stronglight 93 . But although the pedals are Lyotard , they are the cheapest steel . The stem is Belleri , and the handlebar is "engraved" . But the seatpost is plain chromed steel . The rims are very nice Super Champion ( 27-inch ) . But the hubs are either REG , or Milremo .
It's an early 1970's bike-boom time-capsule !!
Too bad it's way too small for me . But I got a great deal on it . And I saved it from an awful fate . Maybe someday I'll have just the girlfriend / wife / off spring , to be able to ride it .
Someday I'll un-earth it , and give it the total tune-up & overhaul it needs .
