The name , Raleigh Record Ace , is clearly painted on it . But still , by that year there was no special meaning to the name , "Record Ace" . That frame is just a plain old bottom of the line Record . <<
The Record Ace sold by Blackhawkac is very similar to one I bought as a college freshman in the fall of 1978 (the only frame differences being mine was 25.5" and the paint scheme revolved around red instead of blue, but identical graphics overall). It was indeed gaspipe, and notched in the product line between the low-end Record and the slightly more upscale Grand Prix.
Now if only I'd bought that Raleigh Pro instead...
