Haaahaaa. My padded Cinelli Unicanitor is, today, the same ass-splitting butt-welt-generator that it was when i acquired the Schwinn paramount in 1980.

I have some 80's turbos that work just fine on daily riders.

If you're worried about a hard saddle, why not erase all doubt and purchase a period-correct brooks saddle ?? hahahahaha

I recently installed an 85 Iscaselle Tornado (NOS) that is awesome .. like a san marco rolls ... Ital-Tecno on ebay.

Selle San Marco (my favorite saddle maker) is offering the Sette Zero, a re-issue of the ? 1979-issue San Marco Concor Supercorsa, Superleggera (meaning the reissue has titanium rails and weights 250 grams only.)

I saw that Mel Pinto Imports has some Ideale 2003 saddles in stock. Nice retro items, plastic base, steel rails.

For those of you restoring bikes with RARE bottom brackets (i.e. swiss threads, french threads, Raleigh 26tpi threads, Chater-Lea, etc), a favorite option is to buy retaining rings from Phil Wood and use an affordable cartridge where both cups can be removed - Mel Pinto also sells CHEAP UN-72 BB's which work - from Shimano.
