Just pulled out my English language, American market catalog "PEUGEOT Sport Bikes '74" and here is what I can share:

The bike with 24" tires is the UG 45 CX model with the following specs:

"PEUGEOT UG 45 CX Frame size: 18 inches" "Children's 10 speed sport bike, especially for children 6-9 years" Frame & fork: Peugeot light weight tubing Derailleurs: front: Simplex Prestige; rear: Simplex Mini Prestige Chainwheels: 45x40 teeth Freewheel: 14x16x18x20x23 Hubs: Normandy dural high flange hubs with nuts Tires: 24x1 3/8 x 1 1/4; tubes with Schraeder valves Saddle: racing model, leather Handlebar: Racing model Brakes: Mafac Racer Pedals: Lyotard 36 bis, with reflectors Accessories: pump and spoke protector Weight: 23 lbs, complete. The pictures shows one in purple.

Here's what I can add to the above: I purchased two of these (identical except for condition of various bits; one was yellow and one was white) to make one really nice bike. The frames are lugless and durable (reminds me of Schwinn Varsity without the smooth fillet brazed joints). The cable clips are small sheet metal tabs that are spot welded to the frame and bent around the cable. After a few times of replacing the cable they break off. The rear Simplex derailleur is unlike any I have ever seen before (it was only on one of the two I purchased) and is a smaller version of the regular Prestige. Both bikes I bought had Mafac Junior sized levers - these have plastic bodies which are shorter than standard units and smaller levers that are great for small hands. The picture of the bike in the catalog has normal/regular Racer levers. Also, the Mafac rear brake cable stop that attaches to the seatlug bolt is a very short version - about 1/2 the length of "normal" ones. Handle bars are chromed steel and 36cm e-e wide. Stem is alloy, nutted and 55mm long. Cranks look like standard Peugeot UO-8 steel Nervar cottered units but are 150cm in length. Seatpost is chromed steel and has a diameter of 22.0mm. Saddle is a mini leather racing type saddle, hard as a rock (following in big brother UO-8's AGDA footsteps) branded "SPECIAL." Rims are chromed steel RIGIDA Chromage Superchromix units with 28 galvanized, non-butted spokes. My rims have a diamond and "72" inside which implies they are from 1972 so my bike may be a bit earlier than the '74 specs I gave above.

Both my kids learned to ride on the road with this great little bike. Both kids still ride a friction shifting bike - just a bit better though as Leah's is a very light and nicely crafted mid 80's Team Fuji with quad butted tubing, and very nice Japanese components. Aaron graduated to my wife's 48cm Bianchi this past year and this coming year will be riding the 57cm Shogun 600 that I bought new in 1985 - he's grown almost 9" in 13 months and still going strong..
