I have a 60 tooth TA outer ring with the cyclotourist drilling and wide web arms and also a 42 t inner ring with same. With the 60t ring you'd be viewed as a God among wimpy mortal cyclists like me. It measures 9.75 inches (250 mm) in diameter.
In reality, with a 14-28 freewheel on 700c x 25 wheels you would have a gear range of 39.6 to 113.1 inches, so not too outrageous after all.
Better still, mounting the monster on a fixed gear bike with a 24 tooth cog, you'd have a reasonable 66 inch gear, or with a 21 tooth cog 75.4. But, you'd certainly look menacing.
[I also have a 64 tooth outer ring for a TA 3-arm crank - the largest they made. That one leaves an even more memorable impression.] :-)
