Yur right Tom.
I looked in the '80s Cinelli reprint I sell (ahem) and all three models are in there: Normal, Super and Extra. I always thought when the Super ("combining a grain leather strip with a special fabric strip made of polyurethanic fibres") came out ten(?) years after the Extra ("combining two grain leather constant gauge strips with a nylon strip"), that the Super was an improved version of the Extra.
Anyone have a comparison of prices for the Extra and the Super. Anyone have an introduction date for the Extra and the Super? I'm guessing the Extra was early 70s and the Super was the early 80s. But yes, we in SoCal considered the Super to be a replacement for the Extra for racing.
