Although not an expert on Pogs, I do have one stayer with a serial #7862, round holes, newer less elaborate head lug. I estimate its date as late 60's. Looking at the Pog section on Dale's site shows that there is one with serial #7609 with older style head lugs and round cutouts in the lugs dated early to mid 60's. Ed Litton's, #9127 has diamonds cut out of the lugs. Thus, if the serial # dating chart is at all accurate than the diamonds came in somewhere in bikes numbered between say 8000 and 9000. This would correspond with Brian's estimate of very early 70's as the time that the diamond cutout was introduced. Unless I am mistaken, Jack is trying to nail down the date on a Pog he just snatched off EBay. It was numbered 9187 with newer style front head lugs. I would say that would make his new acquisition in the 1971/2 range. IMHO. Edward Albert Chappaqua, New York, USA

When did Sante start putting DIAMOND CUTOUTS into his lug sets?
