Hilary: If those are the short reach brakes I'm thinking of, I believe the calipers were magnesium or some light weight metal, not that I'm knowledgeable about such. I had these mounted to a Vitus 979, and even when I weighed 145lbs, they still wouldn't stop the bike very well.
