My Ciocc isn't 100% "period-correct", either. While my pre-84 Ciocc "San Cristobal" is mostly period-appropriate Campy Super Record, I happen to like the utility/convenience of my late 80s (first generation) Look PP65 clipless pedals and Aero Gran Compe brake levers. My Ciocc isn't a "show bike" - it is currently the only bike I own and I ride her regularly.

Is combining eras "OK"? Sure it is; it just depends on what you want. My daily rider is a 35 year old Bob Jackson w/ modern Look pedals, modern cork tape, and modern tires and tubes. I respoked the wheels so I suppose the new spokes aren't period-correct, either. I guess it depends on whether you're looking for a show-horse or a work-horse. I have more miles in traditional toe-clips and leather straps than I do on the Look pedals, but I don't see very many daily riders with clip-and-strap style pedals. Some, but not very many.
