This is kind of where I am on the situation. Being Michigan, this rider could have been thinking about "I bought a great American-made frame, why isn't that good enough?" as people here often do with respect to cars.
I'd assume he doesn't have a bunch of bikes, as many here do. Maybe he just rides, and outside of having "his ride," doesn't worry about bikes.
